A key feature of the Whistler 1788 is the built in battery charger, and the included home battery charger. The 1788 is the only detector on the market right now to include rechargeable batteries, or a charger of any type. The Whistler DE-1788 also offers a blue backlit text display. The display is configurable, and the back-light can be setup to change the brightness setting when an alert is received. This model also offers 3 city modes to reduce false alerts, and supports disabling any band through the Selectable Bands feature.
